Sylvia M. Gilliam, 86, died at home on May 29, 2006. She was born December 31, 1919, in Billings, Montana to Remy and Bertha (VanDenbulcke) VanCompernolle. She was first married to Elmer Knesel. They had three children, James Knesel, Sandra Herrman and Thomas Knesel. She then married Donald A. Gilliam. They had three children, Michael Gilliam, Michelle Annette Gilliam and Patrick Gilliam. She also has eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceeded in death by Michelle Annette Gilliam, Donald A. Gilliam and Elmer Knesel. A visitation will be Thursday, June 1, 2006 at McGilley & Hoge Chapel, 8024 Santa Fe Dr., Overland Park, Kan., from 6-8 p.m., with a rosary at 6:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, June 2, at 10 a.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 11300 W. 103rd St., Overland Park. Entombment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Kansas City, Mo. Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 6700 Antioch Rd, Suite 100, Merriam, KS 66204 and Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 11300 W. 103rd St., Overland Park, KS 66214.
