A retired school teacher; member of Bethel Methodist Church; attended Winthrop College; a graduate of Catawba College; member of Spartanburg Branch of the American Association of University Women; life member of Women's Society of Christian Service; member of the National Education Association; and member of the South Carolina Education Association.
Survivors include her sons, William Osborne Holmes (1924-1984) and George Thomas Holmes (1930-1995); brothers, John Osborne, James Theodore Osborne, and Ray P. Osborne; sister, Sarah Harriett Holmes Neal (1910-1974); six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Also predeceased by a brother, Joseph A Osborne (1905–1962).
