Disc Jockey NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. - Mr. Brian F. Ansley, 49, husband of Leslie Whitman Ansley entered into rest Monday, February 25, 2008, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Chance & Hydrick Funeral Directors, Thursday, February 28, 2008, at 11:00 am, with the Reverend Alan Faulkner officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Brian was a graduate of North Augusta High School. Brian had been in the radio industry for 35 years and was most recently employed with KICKS 99. He was a disc jockey at WGUS radio during the 1980's and served as program director there for many years. Brian loved music and was a musician and drummer as well as being a member of several bands in the Augusta area. He was jovial, quick-witted and loved by all who knew him.
In addition to his wife, Brian is survived by his father, Marvin Ansley; two children, Victoria Leigh Ansley of Augusta, and Stephen Brian Ansley, US Navy, Honolulu, Hawaii; his previous wife and mother of his children, Nancy Ansley McCrory; brother, Bill Ansley of Augusta and brother and sister in law David and Marlene Ansley of Massachusetts; special nephews Curtis Smith, North, SC, and Brandon Ansley, MA; and three special nieces, Amanda Smith, and Nicole and Michelle Owens. He was preceded in death by his mother Ethel Epps Ansley.
His family wishes to thank Brian's brother, Bill Ansley, for the wonderful care Bill gave to Brian in the last days of his life, the staff of Augusta Oncology Associates with a special thanks to Michael Schlaer, MD, the Reverend Alan Faulkner, whom Brian referred to as 'his friend and buddy,' and Pulmonologist, Dave Thomas, MD. Active Pallbearers will be Zack Taylor, Bill Throneberg, Hal Herrington, Chuck Compton, Bryan Axelson, and David Holton. Honorary Pallbearers will be past and present Media Staff.
The family will receive friends this Wednesday, February 27, 2008, from 5:00 until 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
