Joyce Elizabeth Walker




Joyce Elizabeth Walker, 78, Nevada, MO passed away Friday, February 29, 2008 at Nevada Regional Medical Center, Nevada, MO following a lengthy illness. She was born March 27, 1929 in Fresno, CA to William Thomas Palfrey and Margaret Elizabeth Hassings Palfrey. She was married October 5, 1945 in Bakersfield, CA to Johnnie Bishop Walker and he preceded her in death May 12, 2005.



Mrs. Walker was born and raised in California and attended schools there. She worked for many years at Golden West College in Westminster, CA in the field of interpretation for the deaf. She later had training in the field of Missions graduating from Rhema Bible College in Broken Arrow, OK. She came to Nevada in 1994 and spent the remainder of her life here. She was a member of the Pentecostal Assembly Church in Nevada. She loved quilting and was an avid reader. She was loved by all who knew her and that love was returned in full.



Survivors include two sons, John B. Walker, Ventura, CA and Lyle W. Walker, Medford, OR; two daughters, Marie Burkhardt, Branson, MO and Dawn Watson, Nevada, MO; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her spouse, she was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Clyde Paltry and Don O'Conner.



Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 6, 2008, at the Pentecostal Assembly in Nevada, MO with Shelby Brandt officiating. Interment will follow in Newton Burial Park in Nevada.



Friends may call now and until the hour of service at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, MO. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, March 5, 2008 between 7:00 and 8:00 p.m.



The family suggests that memorials may be made in her honor to the Pentecostal Assembly Church, Nevada, MO in care of the funeral home.
