Phyllis graduated from Traer High School in 1941, Iowa State Teachers College in 1943, and received her B. A. from Iowa State Teachers College in 1966. She taught in elementary schools at Soldier, Traer, Parkersburg, Janesville, and Washburn, retiring in 1988.
Surviving are two sons, Joel (Beth) Norby of Omaha, Nebraska and Steve (Barbara Drews) Norby of Cedar Falls; one daughter, Suzette Norby, of Marion, Iowa; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and one sister, Shirley Staveley, of Traer, Iowa.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Funeral services at the United Church of Christ in Cedar Falls. Burial in Buckingham Cemetery in Traer, Iowa.
