John Albera, 78, of Wethersfield, beloved husband for 49 years of Antoinette (Andrzejewski) Albera, died Thursday, (July 3, 2003) at Hartford Hospital. He was born August 31, 1924 in Hartford and was the son of the late Emilo and Teresa (Carra) Albera. He was a World War II US Army veteran, a graduate of Glastonbury High School and Hillyer College. He retired from Northeast Utilities after over 35 years of service and was also employed by the US Post Office. John was an avid tennis player, and was a member of the HELCO Men's Club and served as President and was a former member of the Knights of Columbus. He lived in Wethersfield for 40 years prior to that South Glastonbury. Besides his wife he is survived by two sons, Peter J. Albera and his wife Lisa of Lee's Summit, MO and Martin J. Albera and his wife Regina of Wethersfield; two grandchildren, Dominic and Anthony Albera. He was predeceased by a brother, Rudolph "Rudy" Albera. Funeral service will be Monday at 9:15 a.m. from the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at the Church of the Incarnation, Wethersfield. Calling hours are Sunday from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 2550 US Highway One, North Brunswick, NJ 08902 or to the American Cancer Society, 538 Preston Avenue, Meriden 06450-1004.
