It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend - Jean Steinbrecher. She was the epitome of generosity and love, always with an amazingly cheerful smile, and will be missed dearly by all who knew her.

Jean L. Steinbrecher, age 90 of Oshkosh, passed away at Bethel Home on Thursday, February 23, 2023. She was born in Brillion, Wisconsin on May 6, 1932, to the late Elmer and Wilma (Bastian) Schnell. Jean was united in marriage to Glenn Steinbrecher on September 5, 1953, in Green Bay.

While raising six children, Jean was active in church events and choir. Jean worked many years as the secretary for Algoma Boulevard Methodist Church and later as her husband's partner at Oshkosh Insurance Services. She thrived on gardening, birding, and being out in nature. Jean enjoyed playing card games with her family and her bridge groups. She had a passion for entertaining and hosting events for family and friends. Jean was an active member of PEO for 42 years, recently serving as their Chaplain.

Jean is survived by her children: Deb Madel, Susan Steinbrecher, Brian (Cindy) Steinbrecher, Lauri Boyer; sons-in-law: Darrell Thoma and Ken Severn; grandchildren: Zachary (Aly) Madel, Melissa (John) Peeters, Brad (Courtney) Thoma, Alex Pope, Charles Pope, Sam (Megan) Steinbrecher, Joe Steinbrecher, Eleanor Steinbrecher, Jessica Boyer, Andrew Severn, Tim Severn, Matthew Severn, Sarah (Ross) Fale; including seven great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews: Leanne (Brian) Wick, Ruthann (Mike) Braasch, Mary (Mike) Neumann, Craig Williams, Steve (Chris) Williams.

In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her husband: Glenn Steinbrecher; daughters: Judith Thoma, Nancy Severn; and sisters-in-law: Carol (John) Williams and Jean (Bill) O'Brien.

A funeral service for Jean will be held at 11:00 am on Monday March 13th, at Algoma Boulevard United Methodist Church, 1174 Algoma Boulevard, Oshkosh. Visitation will take place at the church starting at 9:00 am, until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established.
