Portia A. Barclay, 87, of Shelton, died Tuesday, april 13, at Fir Lane
Terrace Convalescent Center.
She was born July 17, 1894 in Kendrick, Idaho, and grew up in the Walla Walla area. She came to Shelton 15 years ago, after living 20 years in Tacoma.
She was a former schoolteacher and a member of the Retired Teachers Association. She also was a member of the United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women's Society.
She is survived by a daughter, Marcia Stewart [1923-2011] Olympia; sisters Veva Ellis, Tacoma and Twila Bauer, Gig Harbor; a brother, Merton McGrew, Vancouver, five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Memorial services were Saturday, April 17, at the United Methodist Church with the Reverend Dr. Ludvig Eskildsen officiating. Inurnment was in Shelton Memorial Park with Batstone Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
