Arne was the son of Johannes Olsen and Marit Alfsdatter Sørhovi. He married Kari Pedersdatter on 19 Apr 1820 in Ringsaker, Hedmark, Norway. Their first son, Johannes was born in Ringsaker. After Johannes' birth in 1821 the family relocated to Faaberg, Norway to Oslie which was a part of the larger Sørhovi farm. There three more children were born. Peder, Marit, & Lars. In 1862 Arne & Kari immigrated to Coon Valley, WI where Peder was living. On 20 Mar 1868 the Jordpåkastelse, what we'd call a memorial service or the internment, was held at the Upper Coon Valley Lutheran Church.
