Mrs. Smith died Monday, May 18, 1998, in San Antonio, Tex., after a battle with lymphoma.
Mrs. Smith was born June 17, 1918, in Washington, Mo., the daughter of Frank F. and Maryanne Peters Reuber. She was a resident of Walnut Creek, Calif., for almost 35 years. She worked as a medical assistant and medical secretary. She later served as social director and executive manager of two nursing homes.
She was the founder of the Respite Center, Walnut Creek, Calif.
She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, and Youth Homes, both of Walnut Creek, Calif.
Mr. Smith died Dec. 31, 1997, in Walnut Creek, Calif.
He was born Oct. 31, 1910, in Tonganoxie, the son of Fountain and Annie Capleese Smith. He had lived in Walnut Creek, Calif., for the last 35 years, working as a millwright for many years.
He was a World War II veteran, having served in the Navy.
He was a member of the Diablo Valley Fly Fishermen, Walnut Creek, Calif., Millwrights Local No. 102, and a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Submarine Veterans.
Survivors include two stepsons, Dwight Coates, St. Louis, and Thomas Coates, Floral City, Fla.; a daughter, Kimberly Smith-Martinez, San Antonio, Tex.; six grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
