John Richard Saville, 75, of Dixon, IL, passed away on Wednesday, February 15, 2023.
He was born to John J. Saville and Irene S. Saville, in Joliet, Illinois, on March 24, 1947.
Surviving are his four beautiful daughters and their husbands and one stepson and his wife. John had nine extremely creative and gifted grandchildren and three step-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by one stepson, Jonathon M. McCaherty.
John was a loving and devoted husband to Christina, rarely leaving each other's side and infrequently spent a night or meal apart. They enjoyed decades of laughs with family and friends in many states. John graduated from the University of Notre Dame, in Notre Dame, IN. in 1969. After his retirement from Sleepeck Printing Company, he supported his wife in all endeavors and activities including the founding member of Veterans Memorial Park and the recent development of Air R&D, LLC. John was always organized, articulate and his financial acumen was highly notable. He had an incredible memory for people, sports and horse racing making an enormous impact on all. He was committed to the greater good of humanity and used his time and talents as a contributing member of many organizations. He was strong-willed and fearless if it did not involve water or heights. He was extremely knowledgeable and enthusiastic about sports. He lived his life with very few regrets but believed that he should have pursued a career as a coach, horse racing statistician or a commentator in sports media. A loyal fan of all sports and concerts, he attended countless events. He loved all things Notre Dame, "Go Irish". He was passionate about the Cubs and was thrilled in 2016 when they won the World Series. He did not miss many games, often listening to them on the radio or watching them live on TV.
Private services will take place at Cedar Grove Cemetery and the Grotto on the campus of the University of Notre Dame. A memorial mass will be held on a later date. We know many people would have loved to gather to celebrate the life of John. In his honor, we suggest that you make quality time with family and friends and enjoy a five o'clock toast to him with a plate of cheese and crackers and a beverage of your choice.
John was given excellent care by his many loving and dedicated caretakers in the ER of KSB, Froedtert Hospital in Wisconsin and Serenity Hospice & Home, in Oregon, Illinois.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory can be made to one of the following: Serenity Hospice & Home or Granny Rose Animal Hospital, in Dixon, Illinois.
