Eleanor Royer died at age 88 on February 29, 2008 from Parkinson's disease.

First of three daughters born to Paul F. Anderson and Esther V. Mortimer Anderson, Eleanor was born on November 25, 1919 at home in rural Dallas Center. She graduated from Dallas Center High School in 1938 and went on to Iowa State University where she majored in foods, nutrition and education and graduated with a BS in 1942. She taught Home Economics and Chemistry at Stanhope, Iowa from 1942 until her marriage to Wilbur B. Royer on July 21, 1945. They made their lifelong home in rural Dallas Center on a Royer Century Farm.

As a faithful lifelong member of the Minburn United Methodist Church, she served as Education Director for the Sunday School and all the positions of the Minburn United Methodist Women over the years. Eleanor will be remembered as a superb cook and expert baker.

Eleanor is survived by her husband, Wilbur, her children, Mary Katherine (David Lloyd) Royer an attorney in Madison, New Jersey, Dr. Paul (Beth) Royer, Charles City, Earl (Esther) Royer, Dallas Center; her grandchildren, Mark and James Lloyd, Eric, Sarah, Anna and Luke Royer, Susan and Brittany Royer; sisters, Mary Esther Anderson and Janice (Bradley) Miles; nieces Joan Barrett, Carol Letourneau and Joyce Biggs, plus numerous great nieces, nephews and cousins.
