Suggested edit: ...Hiram Etheridge was a member of Company I, 63rd Regiment, Georgia Volunteer Infantry. He enlisted Jan. 27, 1863, and died of pneumonia on Feb. 9, 1865. Is it possible the memorial for Hiram Ethridge is not correct as to unit and that the 63rd GA is the correct unit?

Correct. I believe the 63rd was absorbed into the Army of Tennessee. U.S. Confederate Services Records: Hiram Etheridge
Enlistment Date: 1863
Military Unit: 63d Infantry.

..."Late that year the Oglethorpes transferred to the 13th Georgia Infantry Battalion, which was increased in size and redesignated the 63rd Georgia Infantry Regiment. The Oglethorpes were Company A. The regiment served as garrison troops on the East Coast until joining the Army of Tennessee in March 1864..."
