Lillie Belle Caywood (Wilcoxson)

Lillie Belle (Wilcoxson) Caywood, 102, of Evansville, died at 3:25 p.m. Friday, May 21, 2004, at the Protestant Home.

Lillie was born on March 1, 1902, in Nicholas County, Kentucky, in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. She moved to Evansville in 1937 with her family shortly after the flood. Between her birth and move to Evansville, Mrs. Caywood and her family lived and traveled for nine years on the L & N Railroad, where her husband, John, was the superintendent of bridges and buildings.

Lillie retired in 1967 from Sears, Roebuck and Company after 25 years. Lillie was a former member of St. James East Unit¬ed Methodist Church and a current member of McCutchanville Community Methodist Church. She was President and Founder of the 50 + Club at St. James East. She served as a “Pink Lady” volunteer at Welborn Hospital for 27 years until she was 95. Lillie was a member of the Eastern Star, the Order of the Amaranth and the Order of the White Shrine.

She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Anna and Charles Emmerson of Evansville; daughter-in-law, Doris Cay¬wood of Evansville; sister, Bettie Mathers of Carlisle, Kentucky; 3 grandchildren, Debbie Barth, Jim Emmerson and Bonnie Ward; several great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Caywood; and her sons, James Caywood, Kelly Caywood, Kenneth Caywood and Paul Caywood.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, May 24, 2004, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel-A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue, Evansville, with Reverend Robert Vester and Reverend Jarmon Perkins officiating.

Friends may call from 2 until 8 p.m. Sunday, May 23, 2004, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel-A Family Tradition Funeral Home.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, May 28, 2004, at Sunnyside Cemetery in Mt. Tabor, Kentucky.

Memorial contributions may be made to McCutchanville Community Church Building Fund, 9505 Petersburg Road, Evansville, IN 47711 or the Shriners Crippled Children’s Hospital, 6 Walnut Street, Evansville, IN 47708.
