CHANUTE TIMES, DECEMBER 1, 1899

OBITUARY--Simon B. Edwards was born in the state of Indiana in May, 1866 and died at the home of Mr. H.C. Dryden of Urbana, KS November 26, 1899, aged 32 years and 6 months.
He came to Kansas with his parents when quite young. He began teaching when he was 18 and taught sucessfullyh in the schools of the state until failing health compelled him to abandon his favorite profession.

In August 1892, he married Miss Mamie Dryden who with one son, mourns his loss.

In 1894 he obeyed his Master at Lansing, Kansas and remained a member of the Church of Christ until his death.
A few weeks ago he left for the mountains of Colorado in hopes of benefiting his health, but seeing that all hopes were gone, he returned home Friday evening, November 24th.
The funeral services were conducted from the Christian Church at Leanna at 1:30 pm on November 27th by Elder Rothwell of Humboldt after which his remains were laid to rest in Leanna Cemetery.

To the bereaved family and especially to the sorrowing companion we extend our sincerest sympathy, but man's sympathy is weak; man's efforts to comfort are feeble so we can but popint to the one great Comforter who has promised never to leave us nor forsake us. And though the dark clouds lower and the burden seems more than you can bear, place your hand confidingly within His and say patiently and trustingly, "Not my will, but Thine be done."
