CHARENTON — A Mass of Christian Burial for Alcide Peter "Lil Rebel" Darden, 27, will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with the Rev. Bill Crumley officiating. Entombment will follow in Chitimacha Mausoleum.

Visiting hours will be observed today from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. with a rosary being recited at 7 p.m. at Ibert's Mortuary. Visitation will resume Tuesday at 8 a.m. until the time of service.

A native of New Iberia and a resident of Charenton, Mr. Darden died at 4:10 a.m. Sunday, May 21, 2006, at Iberia Medical Center.

He is survived by his two sons, Kyle and Caleb Darden, both of Franklin; mother, Mary Ann Darden Black of Charenton; father, Alcide Peter Crochet of Sorrell; step-father, Jerry D. Black of Charenton; two brothers, Brian James Darden and Scottie James Black, both of Charenton; two sisters, Maxine Sanchez of Franklin, and Tiffany Darden of Cutoff; former wife, Heather Palmer of Franklin; and paternal grandmother, Maxillia Crochet of Crowley.

Mr. Darden was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Joseph Emmitt Crochet; and maternal grandparents, Huey Paul Darden Sr. and Mary Aline Darden.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to help alleviate funeral expenses.
