Senior Border Patrol Agent Luis Aguilar was killed in the line of duty on Jan. 19th after a suspected smuggler intentionally ran over him while he was deploying a controlled tire deflation device in an attempt to stop the vehicle from escaping into Mexico. Both vehicles fled into Mexico and the suspects remain at large.

OBITUARY:

On Saturday, January 19, 2008, Senior Border Patrol Agent Luis A. (Louie) Aguilar lost his life as he was protecting the safety of others, while on duty in Yuma, Arizona. Louie knew of the dangers that came with his career, yet he bravely and proudly served to the very end.

He was born in El Paso, Texas on November 26, 1976. He graduated from El Paso High School in 1995; where he excelled in academics and sports. In his youth he was a Golden Glove boxer and later became exceptionally proficient in martial arts.

The love he had for his family was strong, kind, and loyal; it was evident to everyone. He is survived by his beloved wife of seven years, Erica Aguilar, two beautiful children Luis Aguilar, Jr. and Arianna Aguilar. He also leaves behind his parents, Luis Aguilar and Cecilia Silva, siblings Marco Antonio and Angie Aguilar.

Services will be held on Sunday, January 27, 2008 from 4:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. with recitation of the rosary at 6:00 P.M. at Mt. Carmel Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, January 28, 2008 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Raphael Catholic Church, located at 2301 Zanibar. Interment with U.S. Border Patrol Honor Guard service will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery. Funeral Services entrusted to Mt. Carmel Funeral Home.
