The funeral will be 4 p.m. today at Unity Baptist Church, with burial in Shadowlawn Cemetery, according to Hunter-Allen-Myhand Funeral Home, LaGrange.
Mr. Kirby was born Feb. 10, 1929, in Randolph County, Ala., son of Mr. and Mrs. Elton Kirby. A resident of LaGrange for the last 43 years, he was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and retired as a colonel and assistant police chief of the LaGrange Police Department after 40 years of service. He was a member of Unity Baptist Church and the widower of Annette C. Kirby.
Survivors include a son, Frank Kirby of LaGrange; a sister, Sue Tennant of Roanoke, Ala.; and a grandchild.
Flowers will be accepted, or donations may go to Georgia Sheriffs Youth Homes, Pineland Campus, 2048 Young's Mill Road, LaGrange.
