Sue Ann Winkle, age 88, passed away Wednesday, February 15, 2023 at Miller's Merry Manor Skilled Care in Warsaw, IN after an extended illness.

Sue was born in Bourbon, IN on January 7, 1935 to Willard and Minnie Lemler. She joined her two older sisters, Jean and Betty. She graduated from Bourbon High School in 1953. In 1954 she married her high school sweetheart, Art Winkle. A stay-at-home mom, Sue entered the work force after her two children, April and Joey left the nest. She was elected as the Marshall County Recorder and served two terms from 1987 to 1994. A Bourbon resident all her life, Sue moved to Plymouth after the death of her husband, Art in 2017. She enjoyed road trips with April and together they made trips to England, Switzerland, and Germany. Sue was a member of the Red Hat Society from Bourbon. She was famous for her iced sugar cookies, a holiday family tradition, which, so far no one has been able to duplicate!

Sue is survived by her daughter, April Winkle, 4 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren.

Sue was preceded in death by her husband, Art Winkle; her son Joey; and her sisters: Jean and Betty.

Cremation has been chosen by Sue with no funeral service.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 19, 2023 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Deaton-Clemens Funeral Home (115. S. Main St., Bourbon, IN 46504).
