John Thomas Keys, Jr., 70, of Greenville passed away on Sunday, February 12, 2023 at Augusta Health, Fishersville. Born April 21, 1952 in Fairfax, Va, he was a son of the late John Thomas Keys, Sr. and Martha Frances (Altizer) Keys.

Prior to retirement, John worked as a mechanic for over 40 years servicing heavy and farm equipment. As an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a lifetime member of the North American Hunt Club.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Keys; and two brothers.

Survivors include his four children, John Keys III and wife, Lana of Luray, Lori Davis of Luray, Michael Keys and wife, Christy of Staunton, and Kristin Taylor and husband, Jeff of Greenville; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; three stepchildren, Alan Sloan and wife, Teresa of Staunton, Tiffany Sloan of Waynesboro, and Joshua "J.B." Broughman of Lyndhurst; six step-grandchildren; several step-great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Earl Keys and wife, Bonnie of Culpeper, and Joe Keys and wife, Debbie of Rappahannock; as well as a number of nieces and nephews.

The family would like to acknowledge the close friends and loyal customers that have helped care for John throughout his lengthy illness. A special thanks is offered to Jeff Davis for his selfless dedication of time, effort and encouragement.
