Darlene "Dar" F. Lotspeich, 89, of Davenport, Iowa passed away peacefully on February 9, 2023 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House surrounded by family.

A private family service will be held on Friday, November 17, 2023. She will be laid to rest at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Online condolences may be expressed at www.rungemortuary.com.

Dar was born on January 24, 1934 in Augusta, Illinois to Fred and Mary Metzger. On December 2, 1950, she was united in marriage to William Lotspeich. They shared three children together before divorcing in 1979. Dar was very proud of having worked hard all of her life as a laborer at various factories over the years beginning in the 1960s at Eagle Signal in Davenport, IA and finally retiring from Alcoa in 2002. Dar enjoyed saying her daily prayers, listening to music, her many pet cats over the years as well as spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Michael (Ellin PhD) Lotspeich of Moline, Illinois; Gina (John) Gerdes of Davenport, Iowa; and Mark Lotspeich of Davenport, Iowa; grandchildren: Jennifer Weaver of Seneca, Illinois; Michelle (Neil) Cowan of Auburn, Illinois; Patrick (Laura) Weaver of Rock Island, Illinois; Michael (Oliver) Lotspeich II PhD of Champaign, Illinois; Charles Lotspeich of Moline, Illinois; Jamie (Kevin) Lynch PhD of Elkins, West Virginia; great-grandchildren: Meghan, Morgan, Abigayle, Clara, Thomas, Declan and Adele; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Dar was preceded in death by her parents, infant daughter: Laureen, twin sister: Arlene Lund; older sister: Dorothy Metzger Edens; and younger brother: Andrew Metzger.

The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the staff at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House for the exceptional care they provided to their mother during this most difficult time.
