LOIS RUTH ABBOTT DUNNAM FARRIS • A GODLY WOMAN

MAY 1, 1926 - JANUARY 31, 2023

96 YEARS 9 MONTHS of life on this earth, she now has her wings and flies in Heaven.

Ruth was born to William "Wad" and Vivian Kelley Abbott. She was the only girl after five boys, all of whom predeceased her.

Living in Godley was a simple life yet Ruth would excel in sports and academics. She was salutatorian of her class. She would marry and bring four sons into this world.

Living in River Oaks was a great place to bring up her family. After her marriage ended, she would stay in River Oaks with her boys. This village would be there for her family. She was active in her church, PTA, the boys sports, all while holding down a full time job. Her boys would grow up to be strong, kind, loving young men.

Tragedy would fall upon her house in 1972. Her oldest son, Bobby, would be killed in a work-related accident. Nineteen months later, Keith would be killed in an automobile accident. Seventeen years later, Charles would die from an autoimmune disease.

Ruth would find ways to stay active by working, enjoying traveling and keeping close to her friends and family. Joining Business and Professional Women's Association would keep her socially active. In later years, Ruth would enjoy Monday Bingo at Ginger Browns AND she won many times!
She never complained and would always say she was at a good place, no matter where she was. We will miss saying "Don't talk" as she would go in a store, post office, restaurant, because if she didn't see someone she knew she would strike up a conversation with a stranger! Having a "bonus" mom was the best! Some called her "other Mother," Mama Ruth, Aunt Ruth.

Surviving are her son, Wayne, and four grandchildren Crystal Dunnam Drapkin, Robert (Jill), Kimberly (Mike), and Keith (Jenni). nine great grandchildren: Tiffany Drapkin Laird (Lucas), Naomi and Ellise Dunnam, Mimi, Warren Danger, and Poppy Dunnam, and Luke, Hudson and Shane Porto. One great great grandson Warren Laird.

Bonus Kids are the Bryant's Johnny, Jenny and Jill and their families.
