Sandra Gail Ashworth, 77, known as "Gigi" to her family, passed away February 7, 2023, in Yukon, Oklahoma.
Sandi was born in Ardmore, Oklahoma on July 17, 1945, to Cleo and Vivian Williams and graduated from Ardmore High School in 1963.

Following her high school graduation she moved to Dallas, Texas where she met the love of her life, Doug Ashworth. The pair was so taken with one another that they married a few months later on October 3, 1965. They welcomed their son, Kirk Ashworth, on January 23, 1967. The small family moved to Edmond, Oklahoma in 1974. They lived for a brief period of time in Springfield, Virginia, but returned to Edmond where they remained until Doug's passing in 1993. Sandi never remarried (or even dated another). For thirty years, she continued to profess her love for Doug and speak affectionately about his many admirable qualities. If we take any comfort in her death, it comes knowing that the pair is finally reunited.

Doug and Sandi's life in Edmond was blessed with a set of close friends. The wives in the group were especially close, but the fact that their husbands and children got along so well cemented the relationships. The group traveled, camped together, and supported each other in so many ways. If you ask the "Edmond Ladies" they will tell you that they never needed therapists because they solved problems each and every day over coffee! Despite growing families, many moves, busy lived, and deaths of spouses, the Ladies have remained close for nearly 50 years. They may be exaggerating just a little when they say they shared "MILLIONS" of cups of coffee together over the years, but there is no doubt that they all loved each other very much and were grateful to have each other as they made their way through life. They were definitely a part of Sandi's "family".

In addition to the family that she chose, Sandi had the opportunity to live with the two of her sisters-in-law over the course of her life. She moved in with her brother, David, and sister-in-law, Martha, after the death of her mother, Vivian, at the age of 14. Martha and Sandi had known each other since childhood and have shared a close relationship throughout their lives. By all accounts, Martha was the sister that Sandi always wished to have. In later years, Sandi moved in with her sister-in-law, Katie. They shared many memories and hobbies together, including painting and participating in the Camden Garden Club, They jointly cared for Sandi's brother until his death in 2011. Sandi admired Katie's many talents, out-going personality, and boisterous laugh.

Twenty five years ago, Sandi became "Gigi". She absolutely adored Canyen, Kyndal, ZuZu, and Nory, and loved spending time with them whenever she could. In 2020, Sandi relocated to Yukon, Oklahoma. She was able to see or at least hear about her grandchildren daily. She loved cooking for them and having them over to watch football games, particularly the OU Sooners and Dallas Cowboys. From the moment they could understand, she worked to convince at least one of them to attend the University of Oklahoma, even dressing them in matching OU gear when they were little. She was so excited to finally get her wish in August of 2021. If you have any doubt how much Sandi loved sports and, particularly, football, her family would like you to know that no less than ten people, upon learning of her passing, immediately replied, "Oh no! She will miss the Super Bowl!"

Sandi was loved by so many and will be dearly missed. She was giving and kind. She loved her family, her friends, the beach, politics, painting, decorating her home, and watching the preschoolers play on the playground from her apartment window. She found a close group of women over the last year that she met daily for, you guessed it, coffee! She loved clothes and handbags. But mostly, she loved people.

Sandi is preceded in death by her parents, Cleo and Vivian Williams; Brothers, Gene and David Williams; Sister-in-law, Katie Williams; and the love of her life, Douglas Gene Ashworth.
