Terry Lynn Hughes of St. James, Missouri passed away suddenly on February 10, 2023 at the Phelps Health Hospital at the age of 63. Terry was born on October 18, 1959 in Caledonia, Minnesota to the late Louis and Pearl (Happel) Norris.

Miss Terry Lynn Norris married the love of her life Mr. Gary Hughes on August 26, 1986, this union was shared by his three children. Terry excelled at being a mother, and by the time that the kids started having their children, as a grandmother she was a pro. She instilled strong family values, hard work, a few of her favorite four letter words, and most importantly winning at cards. If the grandkids didn't win on their own, they didn't win, she wasn't about to" let" them win, you know it was all about a life lesson learned. She loved to sit down with a good cup of coffee, playing bingo, and could belt out a karaoke tune as well as anyone. She loved life and everything about it, well except for frogs, she disliked frogs a lot. Terry didn't mince words and would tell it like it was, however if you needed advice she listened without judgment gave without expectation, and helped out because it was the right thing to do. She was honest because there was no other way to be. There was an ease about being with her and an awareness that you'd never guess where the conversation would lead, but you knew you'd laugh, that somehow she already knew what you were going to say, and that you'd feel better after having talked with her.

Terry gave selflessly of herself, when her sisters, and parents were sick she lovingly took on the role of caretaker. Her life was a bright example of love, compassion and dedication. Her sweet soul cared for others and served as a mother-figure to so many. Her presence was a light to us all and she will be deeply missed, but her memory will live on in the hearts of all those who knew and loved her.

Terry Lynn Hughes is survived by her husband of 37 years, Gary Hughes, of the home; children, Stephanie Moyer and husband Matthew, of Sullivan, MO, Jennifer Fels and husband Bret, of Bonne Terre, MO, Gary Hughes JR and wife April, of Cocoa FL, and Joseph Meeker and wife Carla, of Winfield, MO; brother, Tracy Norris and wife Samra, of St. James, MO; grandchildren, Caitlin Hughes (Justin Strickland). Cori Fels, Brett Fels, Abigail Moyer, Nolan Moyer, Hunter Hughes, Logan Meeker, and Sam Meeker; great-grandchildren, Liam Craft and Owen Strickland; a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. In addition to her parents Louis and Pearl Norris, she was preceded in death by her brother Loyd "Fuzzy" Chilton ; sisters, Brenda Skyles, and Sue McKinnon.
