Mrs. Laura Wene Hawkins, age 84, of Eufaula, passed away Thursday July 11, 2019 at her residence after a battle with Alzheimer's.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 16, 2019 at Glover Funeral Home in Eufaula with the Reverend Woody Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the Georgetown Cemetery in Georgetown, GA, with Glover Funeral Home of Eufaula directing. The family will receive friends on Monday, July 15, 2019 from 6 until 8 pm at Glover Funeral Home.
Mrs. Hawkins was born on January 13, 1935 in Louisville, Alabama to the late Melvin Tew and the late Annie Mae Faircloth Tew. She was a sweet caring woman who never said a bad word against anyone. Although she didn't have any children of her own, she cared and nurtured many children that she claimed as her own. She was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her first husband, Bennett Grantham, and second husband Charles Hawkins, sister, Valley Mae Evans, two brothers, Grover Tew, and Glider Tew.
Survivors include: brother, Melvin Shelton Tew, Eufaula; Tom Burton, Leavenworth, KS; three sisters, Emmie Lee Singleton, Eufaula, Arlene Thompson, Newville, Senoia McGregor, Edwin; and numerous nieces and nephews.
