Professional Football Player. Bedner played high school football at Wilkes-Barre High School in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania before moving on to Lafayette College. While there he became one of the best tackles in the Eastern United States, and was selected to the New York Times' sports department's All-American team in 1920. Bender also boxed and wrestled while at Lafayette, winning heavyweight titles in both sports, and was a hammer thrower on the track and field team. He played for several professional football teams in Pennsylvania before joining the Frankford Yellow Jackets of the National Football League in 1924. Bedner then caught on with the New York Giants for their inaugural season in 1925. He appeared in nine games with New York that year and eight more in 1926. Outside of football, Bedner served in the U.S. Navy in World Wars I and II, worked as a stockbroker, and sold real estate and insurance.
