He married Rachel Meredith, daughter of Peter and Elizabeth Broadway Meredith, on 06 Jan 1814 in Lancaster, Fairfield Co., Ohio. They had 14 children: Absolom, Eli, Elizabeth, Louisa, Gershom, James, John Perry, Hannah, Milton, Rebecca, Sarah Rachel, Francinah, an unnamed son who died in infancy, and Mahlon Jr. No further notes on Mahlon's profession or places of residence. Mahlon died 28 May 1878 in Lancaster, Fairfield Co., Ohio and was buried beside his wife in Rose Hill Cemetery in Darke Co., Ohio
