Barry Wesley Wright, age 75, a long-time resident of Calhoun, passed away Tuesday morning February 7th at his residence.

He was born in Calhoun, August 31, 1947, son of the late Samuel Wesley Wright and Helen June Gentry Wright.

Barry was retired from Lockheed Martin Corporation and had previously worked with General Dynamics, Electric Boat Division, and taught school many years in Gordon County. He received his Master's Degree from West Georgia University. He was a licensed Amateur Radio Operator for 63 years and enjoyed using Morse Code for communications. Barry was a charter member of the Cherokee Capital Amateur Radio Society.

He served on the Gordon County Board of Education for twelve years, from 1988 through the year 2000, ten of those years as Chairman of the Board. Barry was a member of the "Get Up and Go" Parkinson's Group at Redmond Hospital in Rome, Georgia and had this disease for many years.

Barry was a member of the New Echota United Methodist Church were he served as church treasurer for more than 20 years.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Edna, his daughter, Sabrina and his son-in-law Joseph and grandson, Samuel, and a son, Heath, and daughter-in-law, Keirsa, grandson, Finley and granddaughter, Edie.

He is also survived by a sister, Suzanne, as well a many nephews, nieces and cousins.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday February 11th at 3pm from the chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Pastor Vincent Moreno and Pastor Keith Willard officiating. Burial will follow in Fain Cemetery.

Pallbearers serving include Richard, Darrel, Jackie, Steve, Dempsey, Phil, Bob and Cale. Honorary pallbearers are Gary, Daryl, Gary, Jerr, Tim, Michael, Harold, Greg, Johnny, J.D., Bobby, and the Parkinson's Get/Up and Go Group.

The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 until 8pm at the funeral home.

The family request that in lieu of flowers that donations be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research @ Grand Central Station, P.O. Box 4777, New York, NY 10163 or to your favorite charity.
