She was born June 16, 1928, in Ottoville to the late Joseph W. and Elenora (Miller) Ricker.
On May 19, 1951, she married James L. Schimmoeller, who preceded her in death on March 16, 2013.
Margaret is survived by 4 children: Carol (Ed) Odenweller of Delphos, Jan (Warren) Almond of Columbus, Joe (Kelly) Schimmoeller of Lima and Bonnie (Bender) Miller of Ottoville; 10 grandchildren: Marie (Ralph) Mertz of Pickerington, Erin (Ryan) Van Pelt of Columbus, Jim (Jessica) Odenweller of Vandalia, Amy (Brandon) Paul of Milton, GA, Brad (Maureen) Schimmoeller of Columbus, Mike (Melissa) Odenweller of Beavercreek, Tara Schimmoeller of Cleveland, Wes (Sara) Almond of Columbus, Audrey (Nick) Scarbriel of Cincinnati and Austin (Amber) Miller of Ottoville; 21 great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Omer (Alice) Ricker; and 1 sister-in-law: Pat Ricker.
She was preceded in death by 3 brothers: Ambrose (Loretta) Ricker, George Ricker and Arnold Ricker; and 3 sisters: Adeline (Irvin) Pohlman, Marceil (Virgil) Bellman and Jeanette (Robert) Brickner.
Margaret was a homemaker and faith was very important in her life.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Fort Jennings, its Altar Rosary Society, Catholic Ladies of Columbia and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Margaret enjoyed spending time with her family on their yearly camping trips. At Christmas time, it was her family tradition for the whole family to attend church, pray the rosary and enjoy slushies before opening any Christmas gifts.
Margaret enjoyed playing "Nurse Snookems" with the grandkids, where Smarties candy was the "medicine" that cured it all.
She loved helping others and made the best soups and cookies that the majority of people in town enjoyed. Margaret was the best at multiple things, especially playing games, camping, canning, soups, cookies and she loved a good nip.
Funeral Mass will begin 10:30 a.m., Saturday, February 11, 2023 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Fort Jennings, with Fr. Charles Obinwa officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Fort Jennings.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m., Friday at LOVE-HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Jackson Township, corner of St. Rt. 224 and 634, with a scripture service at 1:45 p.m. and another visitation Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.
In lieu of flowers, family would like memorials to be given to St. Joseph Catholic Church, Fort Jennings or do a kind deed for others.
