He worked as an optical machinery assembly worker for many years. His true passion was a volunteer for the Tallahassee Fire Department for twenty-seven years. He was a pit man on the Slayton Durrett race car, and enjoyed tinkering with dune buggies. Before the passing of his wife Petronella (Pat) Adams in 2018 they enjoyed square dancing, bowling, camping and spending time at the lake together.
Ernest is preceded in death by his parents Ernest and Nellie Adams, his wife Petronella (Pat) Adams, twin brother Earl Adams; sisters Cleta Guiles, Lola Tedder, and Margarete Byrd.
