CoLinda Sue (Bennett) Compton, age 68, of Evansville, IN, passed away Monday, February 6, 2023, at Majestic Care of Newburgh. Linda was born January 25, 1955, in Greenfield, IN, to Joseph Marvin and Ruth Elnora (Apple) Bennett.

She graduated from Blue River Valley High School in 1973, and she continued on to earn her associate degree in nursing from Ivy Tech Community College and her bachelor degree in business management from Oakland City University. Linda was a member of Grace Church of the Nazarene where she loved singing with her sister. She worked as a nurse for over 20 years, including providing disaster relief after Hurricane Katrina in 2008. Linda was an avid quilter, and she loved spending time with her family.

Linda is survived by her husband of 7 years, John Compton; sons, Richard Bennett (Michelle) and Eric Rickard (Kelly); sisters, Lois Welden and Frances Frame (Ralph); brother, Ronnie Bennett; grandchildren, Jakob Bennett, Claire Bennett, Tate Bennett, and Kodi Rickard; dear friends, Joyce Burghard and Sharon Liles; and several nieces and nephews.

Linda is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Ruth Bennett; brothers, Marnee Bennett and Marvin Bennett; sister, Barbara Cobb; brother-in-law, Billy Welden; and fathers of her children, Edward Rickard and Kenneth Mark Spond.

Funeral services for friends and family will be held at 3:00 p.m. CST, Saturday, February 11, 2023 with Pastor Brett Doninger and Pastor Michael David Stallings officiating with Southern Indiana Nursing Honor Guard performing funeral honors at 3:00 p.m. CST. Friends may visit from 12:00 p.m. until service time CST, Saturday, February 11, 2023. Additional funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. EST, Monday, February 13, 2023, at Buena Vista Christian Church, 5434 County Road 300 South, Farmland, IN, with Pastor Michael David Stallings. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
