Jennie Theresa Alexandry, 71, a native and resident of Thibodaux, passed away on February 5, 2023 at 7:42 am

A visitation will be held in her honor on Friday, February 10, 2023 at St. Joseph Co-Cathedral, Thibodaux, Louisiana from 9:00 am until the Funeral Mass at 11:00 am.

Alleluia Alleliua! The gates of heaven opened wide as the Saints welcomed their newest resident, Jennie Theresa Alexandry. Her journey took many turns, but once there, her soul burst with joy. She is home- she is finally home.

Her mother Jennie Coco Alexandry, her father Irven Paul "Jake" Alexandry, and her beloved Mama Eunice folded her in their loving arms. Also welcoming her is her brother Joseph Salvador Gauthier. The choir of angels now have another angelic voice to add to their music. Here on Earth, waiting to join Jennie are her sister Sandra Alexandry Bacas (Lowell), her Godchild and nephew David Lowell Bacas, her twin nieces Erin Bacas Remondet and Ericas Bacas Harris (Jack), her nieces Michelle Gauthier Heinz (Michael), Mary Veronica Gauthier (Jamie), and nephew Michael Gauthier. She was loved by her great nieces Emily Heinz and Sydney Remondet and great nephews Brody Remondet, Dominic Harris, Grayson Harris, Michael Heinz Jr., and Nicholas Heinz.

Jennie was born with a rich Italian heritage from her mother and from which she developed cooking delicious Italian foods. From her father Jake, an accomplished musician with a voice straight out of Heaven itself, she inherited a great love of music, and was a part of her throughout her life. Instead of anxiously awaiting her first word as a baby, her parents awaited her first note.

While in New York, Jennie cooked for two local establishments making crawfish pies, jambalaya, and pralines which she personally delivered fresh from the oven.

Jennie and her friends Barbara, Kay, and Mary formed a band and played to the enjoyment of many. Eventually, Jennie published a book The Magic Swamp in 2019. Jennie and good friends Barbara and Kay then wrote and performed the music to accompany the book --- characters like Nanette the Egret and many other swamp creatures came to life in a most enjoyable way.

Jennie with her friend and business partner Robin created Swamp Dog and Friends. Dogs of all shapes and sizes dominated the beautiful photography, many in the most prominent restaurants and tourists spots of New Orleans.

She was a certified school psychologist serving 30 years in Assumption Parish. After retirement, she became a mental health counselor. Fishing was a hobby of hers as was a little gambling on the side.

Jennie graduated from E.D. White High School in 1970. She then graduated from Nicholls State University in Thibodaux. One of Jennie's most admirable traits was her love of animals. She treasured her beautiful four legged companions all her life: Peabody, Francis, Maggie, Coco, Gabe, Moon, Little Pips, Charles Dickens, and so many more. Special thoughts to friends and coworkers with Assumption Parish Pupil Appraisal. Many thanks to devoted friends Robin, Barbara, Kellie, Rachel, Brenda, and lifelong friends Bernadette and Queenie, many who provided much help and assistance as Jennie bravely fought through a short but very intense battle with metastatic esophageal cancer.

Like the most delicious Italian dishes with all those special ingredients served today, Jennie's life was composed of many ingredients and those ingredients provided the very "delicious" and much loved Jennie.

The perfect ending for Jennie's very busy meaningful life comes from Robert Frost's "The Road Not Taken". "Two roads diverged in a wood, and I - I took the one less traveled by and that has made all the difference."
