Son of Elmer Frederick Dowell and Rose Bicking. He married Dorothy Snyder Johnson on July 10, 1999, in Perry, OK. He was a farmer/rancher. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He was survived by his wife, Dorothy; two sons, Tom Dowell and Ben McBride; two daughters, Cheryle Leach and Clydean Inselman; two stepdaughters, Shirley Van Hoesen and Darla Johnson; 37 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and an extended family of relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Agnes Juanita Dexter Dowell; two sisters, one daughter, one son; three grandsons and one great-granddaughter. His funeral was held at Calvary Baptist Church on November 2, 2005, with The Rev. Roger Dunn officiating.
