Anchorage homemaker Shirley Ann Thorsness, 64, died Oct. 27 at Providence Hospital. A memorial service was held at Central Lutheran Church with the Rev. Ronald Martinson and the Rev. Fritz Lampe officiating. Burial was in Angelus Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mrs. Thorsness was born March 13, 1929, in Deer Creek, Minn., and came to Alaska in 1953. She worked for Anchorage Printing Co. for many years and was a homemaker. Mrs. Thorsness was a member of Central Lutheran Church and Pioneers of Alaska, Auxiliary #4. She served on local election boards for several years and enjoyed cross-stitching, sewing, crocheting, cooking and traveling.

Mrs. Thorsness is survived by her husband, Lowell of Anchorage; her daughters and son-in-law, Pat and Gordon Jackson of Juneau, and Gale Gunnarson of Wrangell; her son and daughter-in-law, Peter and Patty Gunnarson of Anchorage; one sister, Pat Lantz of Clinton, Wash., and two brothers, Tom Lindblom of Jacksonville, Fla., and Stuart Lindblom of St. Paul, Minn.; and four grandchildren, Scotty and Brian Jackson of Juneau, and Lindsay and Sydney Gunnarson of Anchorage. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Carl Gunnarson, and a sister, Doris. Memorial donations may be sent to the American Cancer Society, 406 W. Fireweed Lane, Suite 204, Anchorage 99503, the American Lung Association, 555 W. Northern Lights Blvd., Suite 103, Anchorage 99503, or to the American Heart Association, 2330 E. 42nd Ave., Anchorage 99503. Arrangements were handled by Evergreen Memorial Chapel.
