Axel Carl "Butch" Acel, 79, of Aberdeen, MD, formerly of Titusville, died on Thursday, February 2, 2023, in Virginia Beach, VA.

Carl was born October 31, 1943, in Titusville to the late Jacob Acel and Adeline Locke Hipple. He was married to Linda Faye Manoso who preceded him in death. He later married Jill Podgurski who also preceded him in death.

He attended Titusville Area Schools. He was a proud veteran having served in the United States Navy for over 20 years and retired with the rank of Senior Chief.

Carl worked as a machinist at NORSHIPCO in Norfolk until his retirement.

He enjoyed riding Harley Davidson motorcycles and doing charity rides with his motorcycle friends.

Carl is survived by three children, Lisa McIntyre and husband Charles of Virginia Beach, Ronda Bridges and husband Shane of Aberdeen, MD, and Dr. Timothy Acel of Texas; six grandchildren, John Thornton, Sheila Wright and husband Mike, Derek Bridges, Savanah McIntyre, Jessica McIntyre, and Lydiana Acel; three great grandchildren, Liam, Kaiden, and Colton; sisters, Mary Parker and husband Elmer of Meadville, Ruth Hall and husband William of New Galilei, Paula White, and Julie Ebert and husband Mike ; a brother, Richard Hipple; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Tiffany Thornton, and a sister Nancy Wilson.

Family and friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home Inc. 303 N. Washington St. Titusville on Saturday, February 11th from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at which time a funeral service will be conducted with Rick Reagle, officiating.

Full military rites will be observed.

Inurnment will be at Neiltown Cemetery.

Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society.
