On June 20th, 1900 a census taker wrote the following information about Albert. He was 33 years old, his occupation was "Boatman", he had a wife Sybil and two young daughters, Enid 4, and Verine 2. Less than 3 months later, this quiet man living a simple life on the gulf coast would perish in one of the worst storms in recorded history.

Albert and family did not live on Galveston Island, they lived in a small rural town called Sabine Pass. It is 50 miles north east of Galveston, close enough for this town to feel the full impact of over 100 mph winds and the 15 foot water surge of this devastating storm.

Did you take your boat out to save others, or where you caught in the bay, innocent of the doom coming your way? It is my belief your wife and daughters survived this horrific storm, I look for them still.

Over a hundred years have passed dear uncle, your family remembers you still. I am the granddaughter of your younger sister Emma, and I am here to honor you.
