Clive Dawson, a 35 year resident of the Monterey Peninsula, passed away July 23, 2018 after a brief illness. Clive was born on December 14, 1914 in New Brunswick, NJ of parents who were then recent immigrants from Great Britain. In the early 1920's, the family moved back to England, but ultimately decided to return to the US and Clive lived his adolescent years in northern New Jersey towns. In 1934, he came to California to attend the University of Southern California. In June 1939, Clive married Betty Hucklebridge of Riverside, California in what was to be a loving relationship that lasted 69 years until Betty's passing in 2008. Their first son, Douglas, was born in 1944 and a second son, David, in 1948. Clive's career in industrial marketing began in Los Angeles and eventually took the family to live in San Mateo, Burlingame, Kalamazoo, Michigan and Menlo Park. Throughout his life, Clive was a lover of music, an avid golfer, and a talented student of piano. He retired in 1983 and he and Betty moved to Pebble Beach, where he became a long-time member of the Church in the Forest and of the Monterey branch of Sons in Retirement. Always enjoying life on the Monterey Peninsula, Clive and Betty subsequently lived in Carmel, Pacific Grove, and Monterey. Clive is survived by son, Douglas of Los Angeles, daughter-in-law, Nancy Lesley Hannan of Brisbane, and nephew, Mark Hucklebridge of Aptos. Private burial has taken place.
