She was born on June 3, 1912, at Bible Grove, Missouri, the daughter of Barton and Cornelia Stice Hunt. On November 23, 1932, she was united in marriage to Fred Harold Barker and he preceded her in death on March 8, 1995. Margie was also preceded in death by her parents, one sister and six brothers.
Surviving are one daughter, Judy Gudehus and husband David of Moberly, Missouri, five grandchildren, Shelly Gudehus of Edinburg, Illinois, Christy White and husband Randy of Ashland, Missouri, Jared Gudehus and wife Becky of Kansas City, Missouri, Neil Gudehus and wife Kim of Sturgeon, Missouri, and Mendy Snyder and husband Derek of Kirksville, Missouri; six great-grandchildren, Gunnar, Gabrielle, Grant, Gannon, Kiley and Ethan Gudehus, three brothers-in-law, four sisters-in-law and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Margie was raised in the Bible Grove community where she received her education. She and her husband lived most of their lives in Brashear, where she assisted her husband as bookkeeper for Barkers Garage. She was a member of the Brashear United Methodist Church, having served as Sunday school teacher and church organist. Margie had also served as organist for many funerals.
Margie enjoyed crocheting, quilting, reading and spending time with her grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, February 29, 2008, at the Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Chapel. The Reverend Beryl Cragg and Reverend Nancy Douglas will officiate the services. Burial will be in Park View Memorials Gardens in Kirksville, Missouri.
Music will be provided by Donna Sorenson, organist, and Barbara Beerbower and Janie Fortney vocalists. Musical selections will be "Whispering Hope" and "Precious Memories".
Casket bearers will be Neil Gudehus, Jared Gudehus, Derek Snyder, Randy White, Darrell Hunt and Charles Baker.
