Graduate of Georgetown HS in Georgetown, IN. Joined the Indiana Army National Guard while working civilian jobs ending with over 20 yrs at the Census Bureau in Jeffersonville. He was a volunteer fireman for the Greenville Fire Department for many years & a first responder with medical training. He graduated Officer Candidate School at Camp Atterbury and worked himself up to the rank of LTC prior to his retirement. He was active with the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve at the time of his death. He was given a full-honors military funeral complete with horse drawn caisson and honor guard by the Military Department of Indiana's Ceremonial Unit of which he was a staff officer. He enjoyed playing golf whenever possible and was a very avid Indiana University fan. Survivors include his wife, Cathy, two sons, Dwight and Troy from a previous marriage and four grandchildren, Lakyn, Caylan, Chelsea, and Savannah.
