Flatwoods, West Virginia
January 30, 2023
Fred Romie Jenkins, 73, of Sutton, WV, and formerly of Sylvester, WV went to his heavenly home following a long illness on January 29, 2023.
He was the son of the late John Thomas Jenkins and Nola Marie Broom Jenkins.
Romie grew up in southern, WV and Sparta, TN, and attended Sherman High School. He was a proud U.M.W.A. retired coal miner, member of the I.O.O.f, Christian by faith, and a member of the Baptist Church. Before he became sick, he loved to restore old cars. His favorite was a 1965 Cadillac he restored for his father-in-law, Moe. Romie enjoyed the beach and going camping with all his family. One of the things he looked forward to was sitting by the campfire with everyone telling stories and talking about the good times they shared and watching Paul and John make hobo pies. He loved riding his Harley motorcycles and mowing his yard. He always managed every summer to cut down some of the beautiful flowers and plants belonging to his wife, Mary Ann.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister in law, Beverly Massey, and brother-in-law; Paul Landy whom he thought of as a son.
Romie is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Jenkins, twin brother, Ronnie Jenkins, Fosterville, WV; several nieces and nephews and his fur babies.
There was no service at the time. Romie was cremated and buried at Pineview Cemetery, Orgas, WV.
