Clara Doolittle Parsons was born in San Diego, CA in 1937. She was the daughter of William S. Parsons and Martha C. Parsons. Her father was a naval officer and the family moved often. Clare, as she was known, lived in CA, VA, NM, ME, and Washington, DC. She graduated from Holton Arms School and later from the University of New Mexico. She was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. Later she received an MA from the University of Rhode Island. Clare served as a naval officer for 12 years and continued as a reserve officer for 14 years ending as a Commander. Clare was active in Episcopal Churches in Maryland and later in North Carolina. She was an avid golfer and animal lover. She was predeceased by her parents, a sister, and step-father, Robert Burroughs. She is survived by her sister, Margaret Bowditch, niece Elizabeth Bowditch, and nephews Nathaniel, Edward and William Bowditch. She moved to Wilmington in her retirement and enjoyed life until her health declined, and she died on December 19, 2021....
