John William McCarty b. 29 Jul 1854 in MO was the son of William Wilson McCarty and Anna Ssusannah "Sukkey" Bridges. John W. McCarty had siblings Sarah Ellen McCarty, Julius Wilson McCarty, Betty Elizabeth McCarty, Ruth Ann McCarty, Mary Katherine Cora McCarty. His father remarried to lMartha Eve Eddings after the death of his mother and thus he had a half sister - Frances Harriet McCarty.
McCartys Ancestors are buried in the Friendship Cemetery at McCarty Road / Five Mile Road intersection. Drasco, AR. Drasco is about 3 miles or so down the road from Wolf Bayou. This is a well kept cemetery and there are McCarty descendants living in this area now. John William McCarty's father and step mother are buried in the Macedonia Cemetery in near Drasco, in Cleburne County, AR.
John William McCarty married Louisa Allie Carlton in Wolf Bayou, Cleburne Co., AR and eventually settled in Oklahoma Territory before statehood, then resided in Garvin County the rest of his life where he founded the town of McCarty. He also established a school and the building is still standing on land that was part of his homestead.

She died of Spanish flu Dec 2,1918,2 days after giving birth to my father...the grandparents took the child home to raise, leaving an older son, Floyd Elijah Lovelace with Charles Burless. I have never found any proof that his initial is other than WILLIAM..John William Lovelace died on May 2,2016,he was told by his grandfather that he was named after him John William ..my dad was proud that his granddad named him after him, he always thought his dad blamed him for Etta's death,sending him away to live with John Will McCarty and Louisa, and never going to see him)

Another daughter of John William and Louisa was Virginia Louise who married James A Dunn. They had five children, Kay, Irey, Grace, Frank and Stellen. Tragically the mother and father and son all died within a year and a half of each other and for a time the girls then lived with their grandparents. Some recalled working in the kitchen and one said she had to work in the fields. Irey married Oder Ezekiel Osborne and then also died very young in 1936 leaving him with six children. He was legally blind and so two of his sisters took three of the children and he kept the oldest son, 9, to do chores and daughter 8 to do cooking and daughter 5 not in school in order to be his eyes for just trying to do daily chores. All six of the children survived to be considered old age and had great families of their own.

There are two pictures in existence of John W McCarty and Louisa with a grandchild in between. They are Not of the same grandchild. I can only identify one as it was sent to me in 1990s by a descendant of Frances Harriet McCarty Lyles and on it was written that it was John William Lovelace with his grandparents. He looked to be about one so picture was dated about 1919.
The other picture had no writing on it to identify any of the three and I still do not know who the child is with the grandparents. The adults are definitely John W and Louisa.
