After graduation, Danny was the owner/operator of McElwain Trucking for many years. He was dedicated to the trucking profession and was in his element when he was in his Pete, the truck that he bought brand new, sold and bought back again. Needless to say, he loved his Pete. He was a passionate conservative. Danny was a lifelong farmer and was proud to see the family farm awarded the Century Farm Award in 2020. Danny was intensely proud of his five grandchildren and enjoyed watching them exhibit their livestock at 4H events. He was happy to support the York County 4H. He was proud to share their accomplishments with anyone who would listen.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Patricia, are two daughters, Heather Michelle Houser and her husband, Scott, of Thomasville and their children Katie, Mason and Allie Houser; and Kristi Lynn Wilt and her husband, Gregory, of New Park and their children Wiley and Emma Wilt; and two siblings, Ruth Anne Snyder and her husband, Lloyd of White Hall, MD, and their daughter, Laura Snyder; Carl N. McElwain and his wife, Mary of Dillsburg. Also, surviving a cousin, Tom Vinup of Felton.
There will be a visitation from 9-11 a.m., Saturday, February 4, at Hartenstein Funeral & Cremation Care, Inc., 19 S. Main Street, Stewartstown, with a memorial service beginning at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in Centre Presbyterian Cemetery, New Park. In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution may be made in Danny's memory to: The York County 4H Swine Club, and mailed to PSCE/York Attn: Linda, 2401 Pleasant Valley Road, Suite 101, York PA 17402.
