VENIS H. GRIMES
1927-2008


Venis H. Grimes, 80, of Molino passed away peacefully February 23, 2008 in his home surrounded by his loving wife of 56 years and their six children after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. Venis served in the United States Army in WWII. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Molino. Venis retired from Fluor Daniel where he worked as a heavy equipment mechanic.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert E. Grimes; his mother, Eva Grimes; and brother, Willis Grimes.
Venis was a devoted, loving husband and Father, Grandfather, and Great-Grandfather. Those left to cherish his special memories are his loving wife, Myrtle Grimes; four daughters, Patricia (Keith) Kelley, Elsie Grimes, Kathy Mason, and Shirley Beavers; two sons, Robert Grimes and Roger Grimes; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one brother, Alton Grimes. He also leaves behind a special friend of many years, Buddy Mattheiss; and a host of friends and extended family. He will be greatly missed by all those lives he has touched with his quick wit and sense of humor.
Funeral services will be held 12:00 noon Tuesday, February 26, 2008 at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North.
Burial will follow at Pugh Chapel Cemetery with Brother Fred Stallworth officiating.
Serving, as pallbearers will be Luther Griffey, Buddy Bethea, Todd Ware, Dennis Adkinson, Gene Yuhasz, Sr. and Josh Tucker.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, February 25, 2008 from 6 pm until 8 pm.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to Hospice.
