James (Jim) Donald Baker passed away peacefully on Monday, January 23, 2023 at the age of 92. Born September 4, 1930 to Arch and Mayme Baker in Scranton, Arkansas. He was the youngest of 8 children: Heartsill Baker, Glen Baker, JD Baker, Arch Baker Jr., Everil Davis, Nell Goswick and Kay Stevens all preceding him in death. Jim was a loving Husband, Father, Grandfather and Friend, there wasn't anything he would not do for those he loved. {Living individuals names omitted] Jim served in the Army during the Korean War from 1950-1952 as well as serving in the Marine Reserve. He was a member of the American Legion Carson Wilson Post 1 for over 70 years and served as Commander of the American Legion 9 different times. Jim was also Bingo Chairman for the American Legion for many years. Jim and his wife Sandy also created a non-profit for the VA in Claremore, where they volunteered for many years and were able to purchase many things for the veterans as well as prizes for their Bingo. Jim had several occupations, most notably he was a driver for Central Ambulance and retired from Moore Funeral Homes. He had a very special gift of comforting people in their time of need.
