Shirley Ann O'Daniel Behlen, 85, of Gonzales, passed away Thursday, November 3, 2022. Shirley was born February 11, 1937 in Luling to Wayne Baker O'Daniel and Lillian Marie Holcomb O'Daniel. She married David Noel Behlen on January 5, 1970 in Gonzales. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, a life member of the Texas Retired Teachers Association, Gonzales Retired Teachers Association, and she had served on the Appraisal Board, and as a 4-H Leader.

Shirley had been very active in her church and enjoyed traveling with the XYZ's. She had retired from GISD after 25 years of dedicated service. She loved to quilt and had made quilts for every member of her family and many dear friends. Her other past times included reading, gardening, and working her flower beds. She loved to shop, but Shirley was very frugal and didn't spend money needlessly. She enjoyed antiquing with her son Shawn and truly loved spending time with her granddaughters doing each other's hair and fingernails. She was an extremely competitive game player and delighted in playing canasta with her friends.

Shirley is survived by her loving family; daughter, Kathy Behlen Miller and her husband Roger Miller of Gonzales, son, Shawn Lee Behlen and his husband Rick Welsch of Houston, granddaughters, Jill Shreve (Erik) and Julie Miller (Emere Beegle). She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and sisters, Elizabeth Davidson, and Lilian Parker.
