Evans Bunch Jr., Surfside Mayor
SURFSIDE BEACH--Services for Evans Mealing Bunch Jr., 67, of 720 Surfside Drive will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Surfside United Methodist Church, with burial in Ocean Woods Memorial Cemetery with military honors by the Grand Strand Patriotic Alliance. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 tonight at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Beach Chapel.
Mr. Bunch died Wednesday, Jan. 4, 1995. Born in Richland County, he was a son of the late Evans Mealing Sr. and Sally Young Bunch. He was in the merchant marine during World War II, an Army veteran of the Korean War and a graduate of the University of South Carolina and Woodrow Wilson College of Law of Atlanta. He was an attorney, former assistant solicitor with Horry County and former mayor of Surfside Beach. He was a charter member of Surfside United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Patricia Proctor Bunch; a son, Evans Bunch III of Columbia; daughters, Sally McNutt of Myrtle Beach and Patricia Ann Bunch of Surfside Beach; brothers, William Bunch of Sumter and James Bunch of Floral City, Fla.; and four grandchildren.
