ROCK ISLAND, Ill. — Mary Beth Albracht Hicock, 57, of Rock Island, Ill., died Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, in Bettendorf, Iowa.

A Memorial Mass and service celebrating the life of Mary Beth will be 11 a.m. Monday at St. Pius X Catholic Church, in Rock Island.

Visitation is 1-5 p.m. Sunday at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, in Rock Island.

In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to a fund for her son Ben's education.

Mary Beth Albracht was born June 1, 1956, in Rock Island, a daughter of Leander and Germaine Schaefer Albracht. She married Jeffery P. Hicock on July 29, 1995, in Moline.

Mary Beth received her bachelor's degree from Marycrest College, in Davenport, Iowa, and a master's degree in education from St. Xavier University, Chicago. She was a teacher in the Rock Island Public Schools for 27 years teaching at Grant and Ridgewood elementary schools. Mary Beth had also been a jazzercise instructor and in earlier years was a nurses aid at the former Lutheran Hospital, in Moline, Ill.

She was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church. Mary Beth never knew a stranger, everyone she met she greeted as a friend.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Jeff; children, Bill (Naoko) Hicock, of Akron, Pa., Janine (Mike) Olson, of Bettendorf, and Ben Hicock, of Rock Island; five grandchildren; sister, Nancy (Paul) Fischer, of Rock Island; brothers, Bob (Nanette) Albracht, of Rock Island, Bill (Mary) Albracht, of Moline, and Don (Beth) Albracht, of Overland Park, Kan.; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
