Deanna "DeeDee" Hassinger, age 73, passed away on Tuesday, January 24, 2023, at 4:40 a.m. at Evenglow Lodge in Pontiac, IL.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 27, 2023 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Pontiac. A visitation will be held prior to the Mass from 9:30 a.m. to the time of the service, and also at the church. Burial will follow the service at St. Paul Catholic Cemetery in Odell. Father Adam Cesarek will be officiating. Memorials in Deanna's memory may be made to St. Mary's School. Duffy-Baier-Snedecor Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
DeeDee was born on September 4, 1949 in Pontiac, IL, a daughter of Leo and Anna Jean (Zogg) Abry. She married Larry L. Hassinger on July 11, 1970. He preceded her in death on July 18, 2021.
Survivors include her son: Joseph (Ashley) Hassinger; and grandchildren: Addison and Leo Hassinger; one brother: Doug Abry; and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; one brother: Dave Abry; and one sister-in-law: Candace Abry.
DeeDee graduated from Odell Community High School in 1967. She then went on to work as a key punch operator at the Joliet Army Arsenal. Afterwards, she worked as an Ad Setter for many years at the Pontiac Daily Leader.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Pontiac.
DeeDee enjoyed traveling to watch her nieces and nephews play sports and other activities. She loved her grandchildren endlessly and cherished her time with them. She always enjoyed getting together with her friends to play cards.
She will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her.
