Billy Clinton Jay 67,of Coweta,Ok past Feb 19,2008 in Tulsa,Ok.He was born 29 September 1940 to Alfred Ray and Emily Ann (Mason) Jay in Qualls,Ok
He worked in the oilfield industry for many years.
He was a member of the Oklahoma ASA Umpire and Umpire Softball Associations Being a referee for basketball and an umpire for softball, he won numerous awards for his efforts behind the plate and on the court.He was inducted into the
state Amateur Softball Hall of FAME in Feb 2,2008 (see below)
He is survived by his two sons by his first wife (Joyce E Schauffler Jay) Michael Clinton Jay and his wife Laura and Curtis Dewayne Jay all of Broken Arrow ,two grandsons Hayden and Colten Jay of Broken Arrow ,three brothers Hubert N Jay and his wife Lena,Lester M Jay and his wife
Billie Sue,and Troy L Jay and his wife Norma,four sisters
Lennell Jay Masterson of Porter,Lillian Jay Tarbet and Jerry of Sand Springs, Joyce C. Jay Perryman and Donald of Brunswick,Ga and Betty L Jay of Haskell and many other relatives and friends.
On April 24,2006 he and Sharon Rowland were married.They attended the Assembly of God Church in Haskell,Ok

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Roxie I
Jay Mashburn one brother Louie R Jay and an infant son

Coweta man inducted into state Amateur Softball Hall of Fame
Lifelong area resident Billy Clinton Jay of Coweta was inducted into the Oklahoma Amateur Softball Hall of Fame.
The recognition was made Saturday Feb 2 during the Association's annual banguet held at the Radisson Hotel in Tulsa,Ok.
Jay has been an Amateur Softball Association umpire for 30 years and continues to make calls behind the plate He umpires both fast-pitch and slow-pitch games.
He worked his first National for ASA in 1982,and during his career he has worked or been the umpire-in-charge or assistant umpire-in-charge at 19 Nationals- 10 slow-pitch and 9 fast pitch including the U.S Olympic Festival in 1986.
He was umpire-in-charge or the 18- Under "B" Fast Pitch
Southern Nationals in Tulsa, in 2007.
Jay has also worked the Friendship Games that included teams from China,Taipai,Australia and the Netherlands in youth and China,Cuba,USA Women and USA Men's in adult.
He has served as deputy umpire in charge for Tulsa Metro for 19 years and now serves as Tulsa Metro ASA Umpire in Charge.Jay joined the Oklahoma ASA umpire staff in 2007 when two organizations merged.
Jay began umpiring high school softball in 1982 and has been involved with the high school state tournament as an umpire or umpire-in-charge every year since.
He was named Official of the Year for high school in 1995 and in 1992 he was inducted into the Metro Tulsa ASA Hall of Honor.
As an athlete Jay began playing men's fastpitch softball in Broken Arrow in 1968 at the age of 27.He batted around.350 every year except 1974 when he posted an impressive .488 batting average.
That year he lost the batting title to a teammate who batted .502.That player later became Jay's boss at Johnson-Fagg,Inc./Dresser Rand.
Jay was joined for his induction ceremony by his wife Sharon,his sons Clint and Curtis and his daughter in law Laura.
Jay was one of four umpires inducted into the Hall of Fame
